CSR Outlook from Thomas D. Lee: Fans in Plano always have high expectation for the Wildcats. That’s what happens when you have seven state championships and more playoff wins than any other high school in Texas. However, Wildcat fans aren’t buzzing quite like they have the past two seasons because the tenacious trio of Burkhead, Meger and Lott are all off getting ready to start their college football careers. Coach McCullough believes that you don’t replace guys like those, Hanur Kim, Justin Collins or LaRon Kelley, but instead you challenge the next crop of Wildcats to stand up as tall as the ones before them did. There might not be any household names among the 2009 Plano Wildcats, at least not just yet, but there is a ton of talent ready to don the Chicago Maroon. Holt Hoetger has sprinters speed and coupled with the quickness and speed of Robert Robinson, the Wildcats offense could continue to put up record setting numbers through the air. Defensively, two returning starters on the defensive line will help lead a group that has talent but is a little raw for Plano standards. Plano has lost only four games in the last two seasons (two district games to Allen and two playoff games to Trinity) which is remarkable considering they play in one of the toughest districts in the state. While games against Wylie and Allen will be easy to get up for, Plano better be prepared each and every week when they step on the field because the tradition of excellence has placed a bull’s eye squarely on their back. A Week 2 matchup down at Eagle stadium against a loaded DeSoto team will tell everyone a lot about what the future holds for the 2009 Wildcats.
