CSR Outlook from Thomas D. Lee:  After the retirement of Steve Gaddis as the Fighting Farmers head coach, the Lewisville ISD decided to make a change in philosophy and hire legendary Baytown Lee head coach Dick Olin. Not only is he a driving force behind the Texas 7-on-7 State Tournament and one of the trendsetters in the prolific passing games which are abundant in Texas high school football, but Olin called the shots while his stepson, former Iowa and current Calgary Stampeders Quarterback Drew Tate, set Texas high school football state records in career pass attempts, completions, passing yards and touchdown passes. Tate still owns the career pass attempts and completions records, and he currently ranks third in passing yards behind former Lake Travis High School and current Texas Longhorn Garrett Gilbert and former Ennis High School and Texas Tech star Graham Harrell in passing yards (Tate had 12,183 passing yards which was broken first by Harrell’s 12,532 in 2003 and then by Gilbert’s 12,534 in 2008) and fifth in career touchdown passes with 113 behind Harrell (167), Gilbert (136), former Canton/Gilmer High School and current Tulsa signal caller G. J. Kinne (130), and former Jim Ned High School and current Texas Longhorn starter Colt McCoy (116). While Olin may not have Tate to sling the ball around, fans of the Fighting Farmers should still expect to see the ball in the air on just about every single snap. Even though only 19 lettermen return for Lewisville, 11 of them are returning starters, and even if they don’t have a lot of familiarity in the new staff’s schemes, their experience under the bright Friday Night Lights will be an asset to a team who only won two games in 2008.
