Marcus at Hebron Preview

When: Friday, November 6th
Where: Carrollton’s Hawk Stadium
Listen: Pregame show at 7pm
Marcus Marauders (5-3 / 2-2 in 6-5A) – The Marauders travel to the Woodshed flying high after last Friday night’s huge 63-29 win over the Flower Mound Jaguars. Marcus rushed for a remarkable 584 yards as Stephen Hopkins lead the way with 217 yards on only 21 carries. The Marauders also received the usual added run support from Rufus Mason, who had 18 carries for 174 yards and Dagen Newsom, who picked up 186 yards on the ground with just 11 carries. Head Coach Bryan Erwin’s team must build upon last week’s effort and defeat the Hebron Hawks this Friday to qualify for a playoff spot. In addition to the outstanding offensive output, the Marcus defense has been consistent all season especially with NG Daniel Noble using his raw power to control the line of scrimmage. Senior Linebackers T.J. Bourgeois and Robbie Boraski are also leaders for this very aggressive hard-hitting unit. With the playoffs on the line, Marcus will be fired up and prepared to avenge last year’s loss to Hebron at Goldsmith Stadium.
Hebron Hawks (4-5 / 1-3 in 6-5A) – The Hawks return home to the Woodshed after falling in a close battle with the newly crowned district champion Carroll Dragons at Dragon Stadium last week. The 24-17 loss to Carroll continues a trend as the Hawks have come within seven points or less in every defeat they have suffered this year. The good news on the horizon for Hebron is the possibility of qualifying for the 2009 postseason with a victory over the Marcus Marauders this Friday. The Hawks have been led all season by the outstanding play of Junior QB Kyle Aubuchon who has thrown for 2,264 yards and 17 touchdowns. Aubuchon has added another 702 yards on the ground to keep opposing defenses on their toes. The key in this week’s matchup will be the newly improved Hawk defense and its ability to control the Marauders’ vaunted rushing attack. Hebron fans can expect senior starters Michael Odiari, Chris Summers, Steven Tocci and Tre’von Burks to play their hearts out with the mindset of securing a playoff berth instead of playing their final game in a Hawk uniform.
